“Waste 0” opens in Duns

On 25th February Waste 0 opened its doors at 6A Market Square in Duns (the old Post Office), with a pop-up refill shop offering eco-friendly, plant based, natural cleaning products. 16 year old Alex Mathieson, currently at Berwickshire High School, has set up his enterprise to help encourage a ‘reuse and refill’ approach to minimize plastic use and has received support from Pounds for Purpose and the Borders Youth LAG fund to help get started. “I chose to stock the Miniml brand because they have great products, good ethical credentials and make it easy to return our empties to be washed and reused” said Alex. Waste 0’s current range includes washing up liquid, hand wash, surface cleaner, floor cleaner, toilet cleaner, laundry liquid and fabric conditioner. All products avoid harmful chemicals, are kind to the environment and are cruelty free. Open every Saturday morning from 9:30am – 1pm, take along your empty containers and Alex will refill them for you. He also has a range of ‘forever bottles’ on hand which can be purchased for £1 and refilled every time you visit. You can follow Alexander on Instagram at waste_nought,
