It was an excellent well supported day on May 10th. Thanks to all the stall holders who inspired us with their ideas and creativity. Save the date…………..Wednesday 10th May 7:00-9:00pm.Come along and see demonstrations of how to save money by reusing and recycling your items you think might be past their best.More importantly, cake and refreshments will be available to purchase.

Duns Litter Clean Up
As part of the “Big Berwickshire Cleanup”, Greener Duns in collaboration with “Sea The Change,” organised a litter cleanup of Duns on 25th April 2023. In total the community spirited people of Duns collected a whopping 156 kg of litter! The Rotary Club of Duns collected a huge amount on the Preston & Coldstream roads in two teams with vehicles. Keeping Duns Blooming Marvellous were also involved. Thank you also to Alice Fisher at Sea The Change for providing the refreshments.

Recycling News
Did you know that you can recycle used pens, green and white milk bottle tops, empty blister packs and broken and unused spectacles (but not their cases)? Just drop them in at the Community larder at the Volunteer Hall. Please make sure the milk bottle tops have been washed.

“Waste 0” opens in Duns
On 25th February Waste 0 opened its doors at 6A Market Square in Duns (the old Post Office), with a pop-up refill shop offering eco-friendly, plant based, natural cleaning products. 16 year old Alex Mathieson, currently at Berwickshire High School, has set up his enterprise to help encourage a ‘reuse and refill’ approach to minimize plastic use and has received support from Pounds for Purpose and the Borders Youth LAG fund to help get started. “I chose to stock the Miniml brand because they have great products, good ethical credentials and make it easy to return our empties to be washed and reused” said Alex. Greener Duns were raising funds at the Duns and District Amateur Operatic Society Table Top Sale, October 30th at the Volunteer Hall, Duns.

Duns told to “Get on its bike” as the Tour of Britain races in.
Greener Duns was out in force on 5th September to cheer on the world-class cyclists of the Tour of Britain as they sprinted into town. Wearing new, high viz waistcoats kindly sponsored by Event Scotland, Greener Duns teamed up with Cycling UK to run a stand to promote local cycling for leisure, sport and transport. It included maps of local cycle routes and of the new, planned green route between Reston and Tweedbank, a range of electric and other bikes and advice on Dr Bike sessions to put old bicycles back on the road.
