Greener Duns wins Co-op vote

Local environmental group Greener Duns has been chosen as one of the Co-op’s Community Fund charities, receiving support of just over £2,750. “We are absolutely delighted to have this valuable contribution to our funds, and we thank the Co-op and its members in the community for voting for us,” said Eloner Crawford, Greener Duns Chair.

The group’s projects have included Make Do & Mend events, Cooking on a Budget courses, liaising with schools and nurseries on reducing air pollution, identifying greenways for traffic-free walking and cycling, and organising river clean-ups and litter picks.

“What we would really like to see in Duns is a Repair Hub, where people could bring household items for repair rather than throwing them away and buying new ones,” said Eloner.  “The hub could become a centre for recycling, upcycling and learning new skills to make old things last to save money and help save the environment.”

Greener Duns’ next Make Do & Mend event is on Sunday 17th March 2024, 10am – 1pm, at Duns Volunteer Hall. For details, contact greenerduns@gmail.com
